"Sift for Sherds" of historic Suttles pottery! Tuesday, April 29, from 5:30pm to 7pm at Richter Drywall yard, 4092 CR 342 near Chihuahua Street. All finds are property of the State of Texas in the care of the La Vernia Historial Association. The dirt was excavated from a construction site near the pottery business which was operated by Isaac and George Suttles, Union soldiers who made pottery in La Vernia from the 1870s to the 1920s in La Vernia's historic downtown area. The dirt contains many broken pieces of Suttles pottery. The dirt must be very dry to sift, therefore if it rains one or two days prior to the event, sifting will be cancelled.
