Texas State Senior Games

The 2015 Texas State Senior Games will be held April 9-19 in San Antonio. The Games are a community-wide effort, as they are hosted in venues throughout San Antonio, from one corner to another. Our sponsors and community partners represent locally owned businesses, major corporations, and organizations that serve seniors in our community. For an event like this, it truly takes a village. Registration is ongoing for this year's Games. Early Bird Registration ($35 + event fees) ends February 27. After this date, registration will be $40 + event fees. ALL REGISTRATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED BY TUESDAY, MARCH 17. Paper registration forms are available upon request and at venues around San Antonio. To request a paper form, email us your address. All paper registration forms will incur an additional $10 processing fee. Over the course of the Games, more than 2,000 athletes representing Texas and other states will compete in more than 25 competitive and recreational sporting events. These events include Billiards, Scrabble, Archery, Basketball, Tennis, Golf, Pickleball, Shuffleboard, and more. Medals are awarded to first, second, and third place finalists at the end of each event.

Residents can take the following household hazardous waste: •Automobile tires with no rims, acids, antifreeze, used motor oil and filters, pool chemicals, lawn and garden chemicals, and batteries, to name a few. •Used electronics such as microwaves, blenders, toasters, televisions, monitors, and computer parts will also be accepted. In addition, pharmaceutical waste, to include prescription and nonprescription meds, pet medications, inhalers, and vitamins, will be accepted. Leave items in original containers and black out all personal information. Items not to bring include: •Trailer or tractor tires, tires with rims, agricultural chemicals, ammunition, explosives, large appliances, containers larger than 5 gallons, syringes, oxygen tanks, and more.
