Clifton S. ‘Cliff’ Recker Jr.


1937-2018

Clifton S. “Cliff” Recker Jr., born June 2, 1937, in San Antonio, Texas, to Agnes E. (Tudyk) and Clifton S. Recker Sr. died peacefully in his home on Wednesday, April 4, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.

Cliff served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Following his military service, Cliff worked as a long-haul truck driver. In 1958, he opened his own business, Triple R DC Experts on Rigsby Avenue. Cliff was a life member of SALE, and a member of the American Legion and VFW. He was past president of the La Vernia Lions Club, a lifelong member of Hermann Sons, and a Republican candidate for County Commissioner Pct. 3 in 1988. Cliff loved his home life, gardening, spending time with family, and bowling, where he met many longtime friends.

The family wishes to thank all the doctors, nurses, and hospice personnel for their care and compassion.

Cliff is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Glenda J. Recker; children June Michelle Recker Johnson (Colby), Brett Steven Recker (Kathy), Monelle Kathryn Recker Trammell (Leonard), and Brent Clifton Recker (Dianell); 9-plus grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren who loved him very much.

Visitation was held on Sunday, April 8, from 5-8 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in La Vernia.

A graveside service was be held on Tuesday, April 24, at 2 p.m. in the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, officiated by Pastor Bobby Nixon.
