Joyce Evelyn Weaver Adams

1929-2020

Joyce Evelyn Weaver Adams joined the heavenly chorus on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2021. Joyce was born Oct. 23, 1929, in Bristow, Okla., to Edward Clarence and Inez Decordaby Gregory Weaver. She was baptized Nov. 2, 1929, in the Church of God in Bristow.

Joyce attended and graduated from Bristow High School. Not long after graduating she met and married the love of her life, Jim Adams of Davenport, Okla., on Jan. 1, 1958. Jim and Joyce met through mutual friends. Jim preceded Joyce in death on July 19, 1993. They were married 35 years. To this union they were blessed with four children, Samuel Adams (Sara) of North Carolina, Pamela Adams (Julie) of San Antonio, Texas, John Adams (Cheryl) of Floresville, and Benjamin Adams (Stephanie) of Florida; grandchildren Sarah Hairston (Andrew), Hannah Adams, Natalie Adams, and Asher Adams; and great-grandchildren Isaiah and Naomi Hairston.

After settling in La Vernia, the family joined the United Methodist Church, where Joyce was active in the choir (having a beautiful soprano voice), taught Sunday school, Bible school, and Bible study groups. In the community she had many titles, including Den Mother, Class Mother, Team Mother, Athletic and Band Mother, and “that lady who had the pool in the back yard!”

Joyce was welcomed into heaven by her husband on what would have been their 63rd anniversary; her parents; and siblings Katherine, Juanita, Zora, Robert “Bob,” Dale, Harold “Hully,” Bobbie, and Anna.

The Adams family would like to thank Brookdale Oakwell Memory Care for their love and support of Joyce.

The family will hold a private graveside service and a public celebration at a later date.
