Lynette Gray of La Vernia (second from right) is triumphant, claiming the gold-medal place during the National Senior Games May 10-11 in Florida. Gray passed the reigning champion from Louisiana in the age 50-54 1500-meter powerwalk to claim first place and the gold medal; also pictured are competitors representing (from left) Barbados, Ohio, Louisiana (second place), and Delaware (third). Gray also claimed the silver medal in the age 50-54 1500-meter racewalk in Fort Lauderdale; she’s already qualified to compete in the games in 2023, in Pittsburgh, Pa. “I hope others age 50-plus in Wilson County will participate and be active in the Texas Senior Games in the future,” Gray told the La Vernia News.
