Personnel with District 1 Fire & Rescue and District 3 EMS remove an injured driver from a vehicle July 26, following a two-vehicle accident on F.M. 775 that sent one La Vernia woman to the hospital.

A teenaged driver has been cited by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Highway Patrol, following a two-vehicle crash last Friday morning.

According to the accident report, a 17-year-old male was traveling east toward La Vernia on F.M. 775 near C.R. 344 just outside of town July 26, just before 10 a.m. Reaching to adjust the air-conditioning controls, he left the roadway. Realizing this, he overcorrected; this sent the 2006 Ford F-150 pickup truck he was driving into a side skid, and it crossed into the westbound lane of F.M. 775.

The truck struck a westbound 2011 Land Rover, hitting the driver’s side of the vehicle and causing it to roll multiple times.

The pickup truck ended up in the westbound lane of F.M. 775, and the Land Rover came to rest in the bar ditch.

The 42-year-old female driver of the Land Rover, from La Vernia, was transported to the San Antonio Military Medical Center in stable condition, according to District 1 Fire & Rescue.

The pickup truck’s driver, also from La Vernia, refused treatment at the scene. He was cited for driving on the wrong side of the road, not passing.
